CenTex MOAA Purpose


The Central Texas MOAA Chapter (CenTex) promotes the purposes of the national Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), fosters fraternal relations among retired, active duty and former officers and warrant officers of the eight uniformed services and their reserve components, protects the rights and interests of personnel of the seven uniformed services and their dependents and survivors, and provides useful service for members and their dependents and survivors to serve the community and the nation.

On the National MOAA Chapter and Councils page (map background), take these actions to join/renew:

1. Scroll down past the Find Your Closest Chapter and other Headers.
2. Click on the Join or Renew Your Chapter Dues button.
3. Fill in the drop down boxes in order. In the last box, select Central Texas Chapter.

Monthly Meeting/Reservations


The next scheduled luncheon will be on Friday, 19 April 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. We will April at the Lions Den, 5100 Trimmier Road, Killeen, Texas.  It can be seen from Trimmier Road. Map

Our guest speaker is one of our own, COL (Ret) Keith Sledd, Executive Director, Heart of Texas Defense Alliance.  Keith Sledd serves as the Executive Director for the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance which is a regional (7cities / 3 counties) municipally funded non-profit 501(c)(6) corporation advocating for Fort Cavazos, regional defense industries, and Soldiers and Families.

He initially enlisted in the Army from 1980-1984 culminating as a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division before attending East Central University and graduating in 1987. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a second lieutenant of infantry and later transitioned to multifunctional logistics. During his 34 years in the military Keith served in numerous levels of command from company through brigade level and staff from battalion though joint force command at a variety of locations before his last assignment at Fort Cavazos.  

Keith deployed 6 times including Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired from the Army in 2017 as a Colonel prior to assuming the role of Executive Director for the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance.
